Little Girl Sculpture
Recently the editor of the blog recently this delightful email from Harold Mills.
"The statue of the little girl which stands in Babyland of the Lawrenceville Cemetery stood for many years in the window of the Lawrenceville Monument Shop looking out on the traffic passing by on State Street. The statue was originally purchased by either Roy Milligan or his father at a national monument dealers’ convention. Tom Mills, my father, acquired her when he purchased the shop from Mr. Milligan.
My dad always had a special reverence for Babyland. I believe he felt it would be more appropriate that she watch over those little ones sleeping than the stream of traffic on State Street. Dad secured permission from the city to move the little girl to Babyland some sixty years ago."
