Penny Shaw, of J. D. Mullen Company, will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Lawrence County Historical Society on Monday, March 25, 7:00 p.m., at the History Center on the Square in Lawrenceville.

Shaw, who recently acquired the company, will present a program on the origins and history of its famous “Mullen’s French Dressing” recipe. The company founder, John D. Mullen, perfected the recipe after spending time in Europe during the First World War. His salad dressing became so popular at his local restaurants that he began bottling it for customers. The company, still headquartered in Palestine, Illinois, now sells a variety of dressings nationwide.

Shaw and her husband, David, are also owners of Flying S Inc., an aerospace company, located near Palestine. The meeting is free and open to the public.
