The Fate of LTHS Buildings

IN THE BEGINNING Lawrenceville high school students attended Old Central on the southeast corner of 12th and Washington Streets facing west.  This building housed all grades until a new high school building was erected in 1908 in the northern section of the city.  (Old Central was razed in 1957.)



Construction of a new township high school was started in the fall of 1908 and completed March 14, 1909, on 8th and Walnut. Four teachers were employed with a  student population of 56.

On April 1, 1914, the building was struck by lightning, burned and completely destroyed. A month after the fire, workmen cleared away the debris and started rebuilding the school on the same site.
