Red Hill 1986-1989
Volunteers have been organizing and filing clippings, photos and memorabilia about Red Hill High School. Some interesting tidbits they found for the late 1980s were:
1986 High school book rental was $14.50 plus 50 cents for P E Lock rental. Student lunches were $1. Kindergarten through fourth grade students could purchase milk for afternoon milk break for 15 cents a carton.

1987 At the start of the 1987-88 school year, Larry McBride, school custodian, decided to tackle the problem with the clock in the school tower. The clock had been installed in 1916 replacing an earlier one installed when the building was constructed but had not worked since the 1950s. This had been a source of concern for many a student, parent, school board member and citizen. Previous attempts led to frustration and disappointment. People were told that the clock could not be fixed, parts could not be located, the cost would in the thousands of dollars if it could be fixed at all and many other discouraging reasons why the project could not be done. McBride enlisted Bob Tracy to help get the clock ticking again. Tracy formulated a plan that utilized a system of electric pulses from the school’s main clock, eliminating the vast system of pulleys and weights originally used to solve to make the clock tick. The cost of the project turned out to be less than $300.
