Joe Weger will present a special program on the history of the Texaco Refinery at the next

meeting of the Lawrence County Historical Society on Monday, September 22, 7:00 p.m., at the Lawrenceville City Hall, 700 E. State St., in Lawrenceville. Many historical photos will be shown.

Indian Refining Company was the first operator of the refinery, until its sale to the Texas Company, later known as Texaco. Texaco ceased operations in 1985.

Weger worked at the Texaco Refinery for 20 years, and has collected many stories about its nearly 80-year history.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

Remember we have changed the location of this program. We are attempting to do more outreach and have more programs around the county. If you have a suggestion for a place to meet or topic of interest, contact lawrencelore@gmail.
