Lawrenceville Republican December 16, 1909


Billett, Illinois. Dear Santa, I will write you a letter and tell you what I want for Christmas. I am a little girl eight-years-old and live south of Billett by the red school house. Now I want you to bring me a doll and a doll carriage, a set of dishes and candy, oranges and peanuts. I will go to bed early. Good bye Santa, Alice Anderson


Lawrenceville, Illinois. Dear Santa, I thought I would write you a letter and tell you what I want for Christmas. I want a big doll and a doll buggy and a set of furs. Some oranges, candy and nuts and a table and a set of dishes. If I get all these things, I will be happy as a bird. Your little friend, Carrie Lowe.


Lawrenceville, Illinois, Dear Mr. Santa Claus, I am a little boy and it is almost time for you to come I will tell you what I want most for Christmas. Of course, you know I want some nuts and candy. But dear Santa I want a little set of spoons more than anything else, oh for joy I do love spoons. I have a little sweetheart. She says she likes spoons too. Ed note: At first Walter Tiffany's letter was a puzzle to me, about the set of spoons. Then the researcher pointed out to me that it must be a set of spoons for playing music, not a set of dinner spoons...silly me.
