Keep Local History Alive!
Lawrence County Illinois History!
It’s YOUR history!
Help us preserve it!
The Lawrence County Illinois Historical Society (LCHS) was founded in 1961 and connects people to the past by collecting, preserving, interpreting, and sharing our county’s history. As a nonprofit organization we rely on contributions from generous individuals like you to keep these efforts going well into the future. We receive no tax money.
With your financial help LCHS maintains two buildings, the History Center and the Research library. We offer unique exhibits and programs. We collect, preserve and share thousands of items in our growing collections. None of this happens on its own. Bills have to be paid; repairs made; archival materials purchased, and exhibits built.
Remember your support is not just an investment in LCHS TODAY, it’s an investment in preserving our county’s history FROM the past FOR the future.

Thank you for your dedication to our local history.
Mark your calendars for October 5 2024 for an Open House at the Research Library to celebrate eight years of organizing what others have collected for decades. More details about this later.
