The next meeting of the Lawrence County Historical Society will be Monday, July 22, 7:00 p.m.

at the History Center in Lawrenceville.

Ellen Jones, local author from Petersburg, Indiana, will be the guest speaker. She was raised

on her family farm in Edwards County, Illinois. Her mother Catherine (Stone) Bunting was from

the Bethel Church neighborhood in Lukin Township. Ellen Jones combines genealogical

research, stories from her childhood, and a personal touch to write her family legacy books. Her

first book “Englishman on the Prairie” tells of her Great-Great-Grandfather’s journey to America

and of the life and love he found on the Illinois prairie. “Prairie Homestead” continues that story.

Ellen’s books are realistic fictional stories based partially on real-life ancestral characters.

The meeting is free and open to the public.
