HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETS ON OCTOBER 28

Trey Beckerman, of Maple Hill Restorations, will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Lawrence County Historical Society on Monday, October 28, 7:00 p.m. at the History Center in Lawrenceville. Beckerman, who specializes in the refurbishing and restoration of antique furniture, will present a program on the restoration of the physician's examination chair of Dr. John Frank Schrader.

Dr. Schrader (1868-1944) practiced medicine in Bridgeport from the late 1890s through the 1930s. Some years ago, the historical society acquired many items from his office, including a turn-of-the-century examination chair. Maple Hill Restorations was commissioned to undertake a complete restoration of this medical artifact. The Schrader physician's chair will be on public display for the first time at this meeting.
