Lawrenceville basketball star Jay Shidler will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Lawrence County Historical Society on Monday, October 24, 7:00 p.m., 2022 at the History Center in Lawrenceville. As a guard, Shidler scored 2,183 points at Lawrenceville, and led the Indians to the 1974 state championship. He went on to play at the University of Kentucky, and was a member of its 1978 NCAA championship team. Shidler was a 9th round draft choice of the Chicago Bulls, and later played professional basketball in Scotland.

Shidler has recently published an autobiography, The Blonde Bomber – A Ride With Shide. In the book, Shidler recounts his playing days at Lawrenceville and Kentucky, and the challenges of "life after basketball." The book will be available for purchase and author inscription following the program.

The program is free and open to the public.
