FUNERAL TOMORROW FOR PART-OWNER OF BARBEQUE RIG

As reported by an Indiana paper on October 1, 1963, George Rice, 45, died from

injuries received in a one-vehicle accident on Friday evening.

Rice was part owner of Mac’s Barbeque and had charge of the whole beef barbeque

during the Lawrenceville Fall Festival celebration. The chuck wagon, part of the

barbeque equipment is still sitting on the lawn today awaiting disposition.

Rice was driving a truck back to Plainfield, Ind., headquarters for the barbeque

endeavor. Cause of the accident, in which the truck he was driving ran off the road, was

unknown. An autopsy report was being awaited by Knox County Coroner George

Garden. An autopsy could reveal whether or not a heart attack caused him to lose

control of the truck. Scene of the accident was on Ind 67 about three or four miles north

of Vincennes.
