From our membership committee:
It is that time again! Our letters to renew your membership are in the mail!
We had a very exciting 2025! We had many successful programs that we are very proud of! Our program on Harold Washington, first black Mayor of Chicago, was very well-received in Pinkstaff. Our program on the Pinkstaff tornado brought in many residents and relatives of residents that had experienced the tornado. The program was a big hit! So much so, that we decided we would do more programs on an outreach basis. So, our next program on February 23, will be held in Sumner, IL. at the new City Hall! The program will be on the City of Sumner.
A very successful project was our exhibit, Ladies of Lawrence Fashion Exhibit. Going along with the exhibit were two very successful programs titled, “Stories From the Wardrobe” and “Fashions Through The Decade”. A third program is scheduled for March of this year.
All of our work would not be possible without your support and we are very appreciative. Our Society is maintained through our memberships and donations. So, if you did not receive your renewal letter, perhaps we have an incorrect address or something occurred with the postal service. You may send your membership renewal to:
Lawrence County Historical Society
P.O. Box 425
Lawrenceville, Illinois 62439
If you are not a member, we would love for you to join! The cost is only $30 for an Individual, $50 for the family. Donations are also appreciated!
PS As a volunteer who spent a very cold winter working at the research library, because the treasurer, and I won't mention his name but his initials are JK, would not turn up the heat because 'we' were watching our expenses, I would certainly encourage each and everyone of you 'to pay up and give a little extra, please.
