James Brewer, Chairman of the Lawrence County Board, will be the guest speaker at the

next meeting of the Lawrence County Historical Society on Monday, June 23, 7:00 p.m., at the

History Center in Lawrenceville. Brewer will discuss the recent improvements being made to the

Lawrence County Courthouse. LCHS reseachers will provide historical context for the

renovations. A slide show of vintage photos of the courthouse will be shown.

The Lawrence County Courthouse was constructed in 1889, and is the third courthouse to

stand at this location, previous ones having been built in 1824 and 1842.

The program is free and open to the public.
