David Kroese, an independent consultant with the National Park Service, will be the guest

speaker at the next meeting of the Lawrence County Historical Society on Monday, July 28, 7:00 p.m. at the History Center in Lawrenceville. Kroese will present a program entitled "The Civil War in our National Park System."

Over 90 of the country's 433 national parks have a direct connection to the Civil War. Kroese will explore some of these sites, and recount tales of battlefield heroism and tragedy.

Over the last 15 years, Kroese has logged 1,600 site visits and 6,000 trail miles in the

National Park System. He conducts NPS seminars across the country. He is the author of The Centennial: A Journey Through America's National Park System.

The meeting is free and open to the public.
