Wayne Martin pictured above wrote Santa a letter Christmas 1924

Dear Santa: I am a little boy seven years old. I go to Filmore school and like my teacher fine. I am through my primer, Santa, and I would like for Chrstmas a leaping rabbit, a race track, a ford tractor, a friction engine, a Ham and Sam Minstrel team and a saxophone, candy and nuts, and a story book and please Santa don't forget my papa, mama, and sisters. Your little friend Wayne Martin

This friction machine toy with new tread and a bit of oil now "runs" and can be seen in the Akin Toy exhibit at the History Center. Having one of these appears to be the desired gift for Christmas 1924.
