The Toussaint DuBois DAR will present a program on cemetery preservation at its next meeting on Monday, June 16, at 6:00 p.m., at the History Center on the Square in Lawrenceville, Illinois. John Fish, Tombstone Restorer, will present a program entitled “Preserving the Past and Honoring our Pioneer Families.” Fish will focus his remarks on pioneer cemetery maintenance, including proper methods of overgrowth removal, gravestone cleaning, and gravestone resetting.

Fish is a native of Lawrence County, with his family roots herein going back to 1817. He graduated from Lawrenceville Township High School in 1968, received a Masters degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University, and taught history there from 1973 to 1979. For ten years, he served as Director of Financial Aid at Vincennes University and later held the same position at Eastern Kentucky University.

The meeting is free and open to the public.
